The Greatest Act of Love

“I am convinced the greatest act of love we can ever perform for people is to tell them about God’s love for them in Christ.” – Billy Graham

During February, love is a popular topic. It’s impossible to escape the advertisements for flowers or jewelry. As we are surrounded by this manufactured focus on love this time of year, there’s something else that is impossible to escape – God’s love, and it’s been demonstrated throughout human history.

His supreme love was ultimately demonstrated on the cross. Romans 5:8 says, “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

This is Good News! For those of us who are Christians, we can’t keep this wonderful news to ourselves.

Billy Graham writes:

The Bible declares that we who follow Christ should be just as much in love with each other as God was in love with us when He sent His Son to die on the cross…The greatest demonstration of the fact that we are Christians is that we love one another.

“Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth” (1 John 3:18). Let us not only tell those around us that we love them. Let’s show it with acts of kindness. And, ultimately, let’s pray that God will provide us with opportunities to demonstrate the “greatest act of love” to them by sharing the hope found in a relationship with Christ.
