Think out of the box.
Have you heard either of these statements yet in relation to My Hope America?
If not, you have now! We encourage you to do both when participating in My Hope America and in making your Matthew list of the people you’re committing to pray for each day.
REFLECT: God can work in any circumstance and he isn’t limited by our human understanding. Take a moment to consider and pray about this scripture.
“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” (James 1:27, ESV)
In our country statistics show that:
These statistics underline the importance of the call to look after orphans and widows in our country today.
The “affliction” or “distress” mentioned in James 1:27 can be great, due to the emotional and mental trauma caused by losing or living far from a loved one. It can also have to do with a lack of financial support. This situation, without Jesus, can produce hopelessness and despair.
But He brings HOPE to the hopeless!
Through My Hope America, you can be part of reaching the widowed or fatherless with the hope of Jesus Christ
Ask God to specifically put names of people in your life who are widowed or fatherless on your heart.
Add these names to your Matthew list.
Pray for these people and for opportunities to show them the love of Christ.
